Electrical Safety Checks (EICR)
Electrical Installation Condition Reports are carried out generally over half a day and are normally required to assess whether the electrical installation is safe & satisfactory for continued use.
Typically, we would remove at least 20% of sockets/switches and lighting to visually inspect the condition and connections of the wiring. Each circuit is then electrically tested, and those results are measured against the acceptable parameters laid down in BS7671, the requirements for electrical installations.
Any items which have been identified as deviations from the regulations are coded c1,c2,c3 and; FI accordingly. It is recommended that codes c1 & c2/FI are dealt with as soon as possible as the installation cannot be signed off as safe & satisfactory until they have been resolved. Items coded c3, plus any other observations, can be carried out at a later stage as part of good ongoing maintenance of the electrical installation, consider these to be advisory’s as on an MOT for your car.
